Please join us for Poetry International’s Autumn Reading featuring Brian Teare and Rae Armantrout. The reading will take place at Scripps Cottage at San Diego State University on 11/02/09 @ 5:00pm.  

Brian Teare is a former Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University as well as the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and MacDowell and has published poetry in many journals. His first book, The Room Where I Was Born (University of Wisconsin Press, 2003), won the 2003 Brittingham Prize and the 2004 Triangle Award for Gay Poetry and was a finalist for the Northern California Book Award. He is also the author of the recent chapbook, Pilgrim (palOmine Press, 2004).

Rae Armantrout’s most recent book of poetry, Next Life (Wesleyan, 2007), was chosen as one of the 100 Notable Books of 2007 by The New York Times. Her poems have been included in anthologies such as Postmodern American Poetry: A Norton Anthology (1993), American Women Poets in the 21st Century: Where Language Meets the Lyric Tradition, (Wesleyan, 2002), The Oxford Book of American Poetry (Oxford, 2006) and The Best American Poetry of 1988, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2007. In 2007 she received an award in poetry from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.

      Which events do you want to know about? There are open mics in North County, downtown, and at the campuses: San Diego State, Southwestern, etc. Give me an idea what you’re interested in…Martin
